| Cane Creek Wins Their First Ever |

It's always good to get that first win of the season. No matter what part of the season it is and how you get it.
Cane Creek started off for the first time as a team in the Adult "C" League. Not as much pressure as there is in the higher skilled leagues but still just as competitive. And being able to get that win helps smooth that transition into the adult league for the mostly youth volleyball players and the first-timers on the Cane Creek team.
During the first game, the Cane Creek Puffins pretty much took control of the contest. Especially when Toni Sherman started her reign of continuous serves over Wilhite Baptist. Which that sequence of events pretty much wrapped up the first game minus a little late rally that didn't get Wilhite over that giant hill to climb.
It was a different story the second game. Wilhite immediately went to the bench and brought in the younger players who came ready play. As they dominated from the get-go, Cane Creek started too slow and too late. Even though the Mighty Puffins staged an heroic comeback, it was still not enough to erase too large of a deficit. Getting within three was still a remarkable feat in this level or any level for that matter after being down ten or more for the majority of the game.
All the drama led us to a third and decisive game. Wilhite was ready to go making hardly any changes to their lineup. But once the ball was put in to play, by a Tommy Phillips thunderous serve, it was lights out for Wilhite. They were blanketed with hard serves that never were able to be returned and when they could return them they couldn't keep they volley going. Infested with mistake after mistake, Wilhite found themselves owned with a final score of 15-4 in the third game. Fortunately, Cane Creek EARN their FIRST win of the season, but also, they won their FIRST game ever together as a new church team.
Hopefully, they can keep this winning streak going into Thursday's (March 26, 2009) showdown with nearby neighbor, The River. Game starts at 7:45 P.M. Players be there at 7:30 P.M.
